Handouts
Here you will find any papers that I have handed out in class. Keep in mind that there is also an “Assignment” box in class that contains all of the papers handed out. When you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to gather any papers or information about the time you were gone from this wiki, the "Assignment" box, and/or by asking a classmate about the lesson. If you are confused, ask a classmate. You are in high school now and are responsible for taking care of yourself. Please come to me as a last resource. I am happy to answer questions, though, once you have what you need and understand what you missed. This is also the place to find any papers that you may have misplaced.

Session 5 (9/8/09):
For writing definitions and examples of BIOTIC and ABIOTIC:
Students brought their a food web to class (either one found on the internet or one created). They had to label each thing on their web "biotic" or "abiotic."

Session 6 (9/9/09):
No handouts. BOY Benchmark Test was given. Please see Mrs. Matthaei for make-ups.

Session 7 (9/10/09):
No handouts. Students did take notes on the back of their Biotic and Abiotic graphic organizer, though.

Students also read about Ecological Succession on pages 172-175 in our textbook and answered the Lesson Review questions 1-7 on the back of the Douglas Fir reflection sheet. This was turned in at the end of the period.

Sessions 11 (9/16/09):
Today we played a Betting Review Game to get ready for Thursday's (9/17) Food Web and Biotic/Abiotic quiz!!! Here is a copy of the activity. We also practiced food webs by going to the three links listed under Food Web Practice in "Resources for Students" on the left side of this wiki.

Sessions 12 (9/17/09):
A quiz was given over Food Webs and Biotic/Abiotic factors. See me to make it up or for remediation (retake) opportunities. Here are the notes that were given on Limiting Factors and Carrying Capacity after the quiz.


Sessions 13 (9/18/09):
We finished the Limiting Factors & Carrying Capacity notes. Then, the Limiting Factors of the Cedar Glade activity was started today. Here is the packet that goes along with it. If you were absent, you should complete this activity at home with whatever materials you can replace the buttons and two wire circles with. (Cheerios, rice, corn, beans, beads would work in place of buttons. String or a cut outline of a circle could replace the wire circles.)


Sessions 14 (9/21/09):
We continued and finished the Cedar Glade activity. Students filled out the Cedar Glade Reflection (which can be found at the end of Session 13's packet).
